French Foreign Minister to meet SDF's Commander-in-Chief 

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated, following his meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Syrian Interim Government at Tishreen Palace in Damascus, that the agreement between the Interim Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) represents an important step towards strengthening the Kurds' fundamental rights.

Barrot added in a statement to journalists that he would discuss this agreement on Thursday in Erbil with the SDF Commander-in-Chief, Mazloum Abdi, noting that cooperation between the government and the SDF strengthens efforts to combat ISIS and constitutes a top priority for France.

The French minister affirmed that his country would provide all necessary support to the Syrian people to ensure the continued work of the government, emphasizing that France stands beside the Syrian people, who today have the opportunity to build a new future.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Syrian Interim Government, Asaad Al Shaibani, received French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot in Damascus, according to the Syrian Interim Government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

During the meeting, according to the same source, they discussed issues of common interest and regional developments, as well as ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Syria and France.

The meeting also addressed ways to develop political and economic relations between the two countries, in order to strengthen channels of dialogue and mutual understanding at the regional and international levels.
