Foiling an attempt to target International Coalition base in NE, Syria

The Internal Security Forces announced in a statement that their forces managed to thwart an attempt to target one of the International Coalition's bases against ISIS, located in the region of North and East Syria. The statement included: 

 In light of the challenges facing the security of our region and the safety of our people, our forces, in cooperation with the General Security Agency, managed to thwart a cowardly terrorist attempt to target the Conoco base affiliated with the International Coalition in northern Deir ez-Zor on the morning of December 22.

 This operation came after an intensive and precise intelligence effort, where two locally-made missile launchers equipped with timers and aimed at the base were discovered. Immediately, a specialized team of explosives experts intervened and dismantled the rockets, defusing them, which prevented a disaster that would have resulted in human and material losses.

 This terrorist attempt reflects the ongoing efforts of the enemies of security and stability to undermine the safety of the region and endanger the lives of innocents. But we, in our forces, pledge to our people that we will remain the vigilant eye and the strong hand that repels anyone who dares to threaten the security of our people and our land.

 We call upon our esteemed citizens to continue cooperating with the security forces and to report any suspicious activities that may threaten our shared security. With you and alongside you, we will build a safe and stable future for all our country's children.
