 A protest was held in Free Woman Square in Amuda to demand the release of prisoners held by the Syrian Interim Government since the beginning of January 2026.

Families of the prisoners and residents of the city participated in the protest, holding up pictures of their sons and banners that read: "Release our prisoners," and chanting, "We want our prisoners and we want our sons."

The January 29 agreement between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian Interim Government stipulates a phased exchange of prisoners between the two sides. Three batches of prisoners have been released: the first on March 10, the second on March 19, and the third on April 11, during which 800 prisoners held by the Syrian Interim Government were released.
