On Tuesday, a powerful explosion struck the city of Palmyra in the eastern countryside of Homs, coinciding with warplanes flying over the area. According to eyewitnesses from the city, the targeted site was located west of the city, outside its outskirts.

Other sources indicated that the explosion resulted from a strike on an ammunition depot located in the same area of the city that came under attack.

No official information has been released so far clarifying the cause or nature of the explosion, and no details are yet available regarding potential material damage or casualties.

It is worth mentioning that Syria witnessed five explosions last September at sites associated with weapons and ammunition belonging to the Ministry of Defense. The incidents occurred in the towns of Bennesh and Sarmada in the Idlib countryside, Al-Dumayr in the Damascus countryside, the Ayash site in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, and Al-Eis in the Aleppo countryside.
