Equality and Democracy Party delegation returns from Imrali

The delegation held an extended meeting with leader Ocalan, lasting three and a half hours, and is expected to issue a statement on the content of the discussion.

The delegation included MP Pervin Buldan, MP Medhat Şençar, and the lawyer from the Asrin Human Rights Office, Faik Özgür Erol. The visit aimed to conduct a direct meeting with leader Abdullah Ocalan at Imrali Prison.

Earlier meetings of the delegation began with Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan, who first met with leader Ocalan on December 28, 2024. A second meeting took place on January 22, 2025, attended by Buldan, Önder, the co-chairs of the DEM Party Tunçer Bakırhan and Tulay Hatem Ogullari, politician Ahmed Turk, MP Cengiz Çiçek, and lawyer Faik Özgür Erol. During this session, Öcalan issued a historic appeal titled the "Peace and Democratic Society Initiative."

Following a heart attack suffered by Sırrı Süreyya Önder, the delegation continued its work. On April 21, Pervin Buldan, accompanied by Faik Özgür Erol, visited Imrali and met with Öcalan again. After the historic PKK Congress held between May 5–7, the same delegation conducted another visit on May 18.

Later, MP Medhat Şençar joined the delegation, which continued its meetings with leader Ocalan on July 6 and 25. The last official meeting of the delegation took place on August 28 at Imrali Island Prison.
