East Kurdistan Units announce martyrdom of Fighter in Penjwen

In an official statement regarding the attack that took place yesterday in Penjwen, the YRK said:

“As is known to our people and the public, on July 19, 2025, an airstrike targeted the village of Shiweh Kozan in the Penjwen area. The attack was directed at our forces, and various reports and news circulated since the start of the bombardment. We, the East Kurdistan Protection Units, conducted an investigation and confirm that the attack was carried out by the Iranian state targeting our forces.

The Iranian regime frequently launches such attacks when facing crises. Its assaults on our people in East Kurdistan, alongside daily pressures on women and the repression of society, reflect the deepening crisis of a regime lacking solutions.

On the morning of July 19, 2025, at 8:45 AM, our forces in Penjwen were attacked by a suicide drone operated by the Iranian state, resulting in the martyrdom of our comrade, Samko Kobani.

Samko Kobani was a native son of East Kurdistan and a prominent national figure in the Hawraman region. He fought steadfastly for the truth of his people, bravely opposing the oppressive and occupying regime. He was always at the forefront of the struggle for freedom, working tirelessly around the clock for a free life. Further details about our martyred comrade will be shared later.

In these difficult times, especially after 12 days of Israeli attacks, instead of moving towards democratic solutions and uniting with its people, the Iranian regime has intensified its attacks on the population. The situation is worsening daily, moving further away from resolution and deepening the crises and chaos in the region.

We, the East Kurdistan Units, will not remain defenseless against such attacks. We will defend ourselves within the framework of our legitimate rights until the end. We will not initiate attacks on any party, but we will always protect ourselves against any assaults targeting our people and forces.

In conclusion, the East Kurdistan Protection Units extend their heartfelt condolences to the family of our beloved martyr and to all the people of East Kurdistan. We reaffirm our pledge to our people that the blood of our comrade will not be shed in vain and that we will continue the struggle until the very end.
