The Spiritual Leadership of the Druze Unitarian Muslims issued a statement on its online platform, making an urgent appeal to protect the Druze community and calling on the international community to shoulder its humanitarian and moral responsibilities.

In its statement, the leadership said:

“We appeal to the free world and all influential powers within it. We direct our plea to President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, King Abdullah II, and everyone who has a voice and influence in this world… Save Sweida.”

The statement added: “Our people are being exterminated, killed in cold blood, with no distinction between young and old, or between women, doctors, and elders. Houses of worship and churches are being destroyed in a shocking scene, massacres are being committed in full view of the world, amidst deadly silence.”

The leadership stated that “the ruling clique in Damascus has lost its legitimacy and knows only the rule of iron and fire,” calling on members of the Sunni community to take a clear stance on what is happening and stressing that relations among Syrians must remain based on brotherhood, not hostility.

The statement concluded by affirming that this appeal “is not political, but rather humanitarian and moral,” adding: “Save people being killed simply for demanding life and dignity.”
