Dozens of Druze detainees in Adra prison have announced an open-ended hunger strike in protest against their deteriorating living and health conditions, amid warnings of a worsening humanitarian situation after nearly a year of detention, according to sources from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that detainees from Swaida, who were abducted during the events of last July and are being held in Adra Central Prison, have begun an open-ended hunger strike to protest the deteriorating living and health conditions inside the prison.

According to the sources, dozens of Druze men have declared a hunger strike amidst unbearable and tragic circumstances, including continued mistreatment and a decline in their humanitarian and health conditions within the prison.

The sources confirmed that the detainees are suffering from physical and psychological exhaustion, with no signs of improvement or any imminent release of their situation after nearly a year of abduction and detention in Adra Central Prison. The situation has pushed them to launch a hunger strike, demanding better detention conditions and clarity about their fate.
