Despite snow, Rojava people protect their cities in response to general mobilization

Despite the bitter cold and snowfall, the people of Rojava continue to fulfill their duty to protect their cities and regions, responding to the Autonomous Administration's declaration of a general mobilization in light of the escalating security threats.

In the city of Qamishlo, the harsh weather conditions did not deter the city's residents, who spread out throughout the neighborhoods and at the city's entrances and exits, as well as its villages, in anticipation of any potential dangers. This comes in the wake of attacks launched by mercenaries of the Interim Government since January 6, 2026.

In this context, Mohammed Ali, a resident of Qamishlo, affirmed that "the residents' mobilization is in support of the military forces and to protect the community against the barbaric attacks targeting our people, that make no distinction between the various components of society."

Ali emphasized that "the residents took to the streets to protect their neighborhoods and confront any threat, whether from sleeper cells or other dangers."

He explained that "neither the bitter cold nor any other circumstance will prevent the city's residents from fulfilling their duty, and that protecting Qamishlo is a responsibility that falls upon all its people."

He also saluted the young men who came from South, East, and North Kurdistan, who responded to the general mobilization call, and headed to Rojava to participate in its defense.

He called for continuing this response in light of the ongoing attacks on the region, and appealed to all young men in Kurdistan capable of bearing arms to join the general mobilization in defense of Rojava.
