In an interview with ANHA Agency, Ali Rahmon, the member of the General Secretariat of the Syrian Democratic Path shed light on the decisions, outcomes and upcoming work plan of Democratic Path.
The Syrian Democratic Path Conference was held with the participation of 128 delegates from democratic forces and figures from inside and outside of Syria, on October 25 and 26 in the Belgian capital, Brussels.
"The Syrian regime has worked for decades to perpetuate division among Syrians on a national, sectarian and religious basis, the conference sought to unify the democratic forces in Syria," Rahmon said.
Rahmon explained: "Today, there is an international and global war, in Ukraine, Gaza and Lebanon, and it may include Syria as well. Under these circumstances, the conference seeks to unify the democratic forces and Syrian figures for the political solution. The conference is the first step in this regard, and it is an open path for other parties to join it," Rahmon added.
The Path conference revealed its policies and work plan through a statement, in which it stressed the unity of Syria, and emphasized the Syrian national identity, political transition, expanding the representation of Syrians and political settlement to guarantee the rights of all components of the Syrian people and prevent the return of tyranny.
The statement indicated that building the Syrian Republic and fortifying the rights of groups and individuals requires fortified constitutional principles based on laws, charters and the international charter of human rights, with an emphasis on resolving the Kurdish issue.
Rahmon revealed that the mission of the General Secretariat of the path includes implementing the policies, action plans and outcomes emanating from the conference.
Ali Rahmon was optimistic about what the conference achieved, saying: "We hope that everyone will cooperate and unite to reach a sustainable solution to the crisis and achieve citizenship in Syria in a pluralistic, decentralized manner."
