Death toll rises to 6 in ISIS attack on Homs desert

At least 2 soldiers of the Damascus government forces were killed as a result of their wounds sustained on February 11, in an attack carried out by ISIS mercenaries on their military points between the towns of Taybah and Al-Sokhna in the eastern Homs desert, where the death toll of the forces in the attack rose to 6.

ISIS mercenaries targeted several points of the 17th Division of the Damascus Forces near the town of Taybeh within the eastern Homs desert, where violent clashes broke out between the two sides.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights noted at the time that the mercenaries were able to block the Al-Koum - Al-Sokhna road, which led to the withdrawal of soldiers of the 17th Division towards the town of Al-Koum.

On January 9, 14 soldiers of the Damascus government forces were killed, and more than 19 soldiers were injured of varying degrees, in an attack carried out by mercenaries on an overnight bus carrying members of the Damascus forces in the area of the third station in the Palmyra desert in the eastern countryside of Homs.

Since the beginning of this year, the Syrian desert has witnessed a remarkable escalation in attacks by ISIS mercenaries on various areas within the influence of the Damascus government forces.

The death toll during military operations within the Syrian desert, according to documentation by the Syrian Observatory, has reached 117 dead since the beginning of 2024.
