Death toll in As-Suwayda clashes rises to 1,339

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights  SOHR continues its documentation for the eleventh consecutive day regarding casualties from the violent clashes between local military forces in As-Suwayda on one side, and the Syrian transitional government forces and affiliated armed groups known as the "Tribal Forces" on the other. These confrontations have resulted in casualties and injuries on both sides, in addition to civilian victims, violations, and field executions.

Since the morning of Sunday, July 13, the total number of deaths caused by clashes, extrajudicial executions, and Israeli airstrikes has reached 1,339, distributed as follows:

657 residents of As-Suwayda province, including 124 civilians, of whom 10 were children and 24 women.

464 members of the Ministries of Defense and Public Security, including 40 from Bedouin tribes and an armed Lebanese national.

15 members of the Ministries of Defense and Interior killed by Israeli airstrikes.

3 individuals, including one woman and two unidentified persons, killed when Israeli aircraft bombed the Ministry of Defense building.

1 journalist killed during the clashes in As-Suwayda.

196 people, including 30 women, 8 children, and an elderly man, executed in the field by members of the Ministries of Defense and Interior.

3 members of Bedouin tribes, including one woman and one child, executed in the field by Druze-affiliated militants.

It should be noted that this toll remains unofficial as unidentified bodies and missing persons are still being accounted for, while documentation and verification efforts continue.

Since July 21, calm has generally prevailed across the contact zones, with only limited violations recorded following the implementation of a U.S.-guaranteed ceasefire agreement. This calm has been accompanied by threats to keep Syria on the list of state sponsors of terrorism if the terms of the agreement are breached.
