On the occasion of the eleventh anniversary of its founding, the Democratic Autonomous-Administration inAl- Jazira Canton today made a statement, read in Kurdish, by the Co-Chair of the Executive Council of Al-Jazira Canton, Hassan Sharo, and in Arabic, by the Co-Chair of the Peoples’ Council of Al-Jazira Cabton, Aria Mulla Ahmed, before the Executive Council in The city of Amuda, in the presence of members of the Democratic Autonomous-Administration and its affiliated institutions in the city of Amuda.

The text of the statement reads:

“The twenty-first of January marks the eleventh anniversary of the establishment of the Democratic Self-Administration in Al-Jazira Canton, this administration that was a safe haven for hundreds of thousands of sons and daughters of our people from various components Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians, Armenians, Yazidis, And Muslims and Christians.”

At a time when the rest of Syria was drowning in a stifling crisis, these components were working hand in hand in the revolution of construction, liberation and development, a revolution led by women and giving it the colors of spring.

Today, in this sensitive stage that Syria is going through after the fall of the authoritarian regime that brought the country to the brink of abyss, the Autonomous Administration project, with all its values, components, and democratic approach, becomes a hope for the rest of the Syrian regions, and the path to salvation for NE Syria.

Over more than a decade, this administration demonstrated its ability to lead the stage. It was a national project par excellence, which could be built upon as a road map for the new Syria, and to lift its people out of the reality in which they lived in light of the chaos and vacuum resulting from the policies of a regime that insisted on destruction until its final moments.

Based on our national responsibility towards our Syrian people and our country, we express our readiness - as the first Autonomous-administration established on Syrian land in Al-Jazira Canton - to provide our full capabilities to advance the Syrian reality and bring it to the security, safety, justice and peace that the people deserve.

On this day, we salute our martyrs who led with their blood the stage of struggle and ambition to build a homeland free of terrorism, where justice and equality prevail. We also salute our resistant people who, over a decade of time, demonstrated their steadfastness and adherence to the land, proving to the entire world that they were the role model of resistance and steadfastness.

We salute those resistance heroes on the battle fronts in the meantime, embodying the spirit of resistance to terrorism in the world in the city of Kobani, the city of the martyr Arin Mirkan, where the city of resistance in the Tishreen Dam is witnessing violent and major attacks through which the Turkish state and its tools seek to consolidate its occupation and repeat the practices of the former regime, throug arrest, killing and displacement, which should have stopped and ended with the demise of the regime whose crimes we witnessed during half a century that the Syrian people lived through with all pain and bitterness.

Finally, we pledge our people to continue resistance and struggle at all levels, and to work to develop the reality of Autonomous-administration to reach the optimal state that serves the people and achieves their ambitions.”
