DAA in Jazira announces readiness to protect revolution's gain

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria had declared general mobilization on Sunday, after factions affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government violated signed agreements and launched attacks on positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on multiple fronts.

Today, the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Jazira Canton issued a statement declaring general mobilization in the canton. The statement was read at the headquarters of the Executive Council in the city of Qamishlo, in the presence of the Executive, Peoples’, and Justice Councils, by the Co-Chair of the Executive Council of Jazira Canton, Hassan Sharo and Vivian Bahu.

The statement read:

“We, in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazira Canton, proudly and honorably recall the sacrifices of our righteous martyrs and commend the struggle of our people in all their components, who together forged a pioneering democratic experience under the harshest conditions, based on the will of the peoples, fraternity of coexistence, and social justice.

As the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazira Canton declares its full participation in the general mobilization, it affirms that this mobilization constitutes a national and moral duty to protect our peoples and the gains of our revolution, to strengthen the spirit of resistance and legitimate self-defense of land and dignity, and to transform it into a state of awareness, organization, and collective responsibility, coinciding with the thirteenth anniversary of its establishment.

In this context, we reaffirm our firm commitment to preserving the gains of the Rojava Revolution and the July 19 Revolution, which were the result of immense sacrifices and a long struggle against tyranny and terrorism.

We also declare that we will remain a permanent and active party in any process aimed at resolving all the crises facing Syria, stemming from our belief in dialogue as a strategic option, and in a democratic, decentralized political solution that guarantees the rights of all components and achieves stability and peace. While we affirm that we are advocates of peace, we also declare that true peace cannot be achieved without self-protection. If war is imposed upon us or if our existence and the rights of our peoples are targeted, we affirm our full readiness for legitimate defense and our preparedness to confront any threat to the security and stability of our region.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazira Canton further stresses the legitimate constitutional rights of all components of the region as inherent rights that cannot be denied or bargained away, and calls for their constitutional enshrinement within a democratic, pluralistic Syria that guarantees equality and justice for all its citizens.

In Jazira Canton, we reaffirm once again that our strength has always been and will remain in the unity of our components. We are Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, and Assyrians, who have lived together throughout history and will continue to live together in the future. The blood of our martyrs has mingled on this land, and all have made sacrifices side by side in defense of freedom, dignity, and coexistence. We renew our pledge to our people to remain faithful to the principles of the Autonomous Administration.

We also affirm that the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Jazira Canton will continue the general mobilization until the security situation in the region stabilizes.”
