DAA calls on UN to provide support for displaced people

On the 27th of last month, the occupation mercenaries launched extensive attacks on the countryside of Afrin and Shahba cantons, coinciding with the attack of the mercenaries of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham" on the countryside of Aleppo city and their control over several neighborhoods in the city after the withdrawal of the Damascus government forces from it, which led to the displacement of thousands of families from the cities and towns of Afrin and Shahba, as well as the displacement of thousands of people from Aleppo and its western and southern countryside to the areas of the Democratic Autonomous Administration.

The Co-Chair of the Office of Camps and Displaced Persons in the Social Affairs and Toilers Body, Sheikhmous Ahmed, said: "The numbers of those who have arrived in the region, and securing their needs exceeds the capacity of the Autonomous Administration." Those arriving are secured in temporary shelters, and they are provided with the basic necessities. Tens of thousands have arrived in the region through all crossings, expressing his thanks for the popular efforts to provide assistance, he pointed out that "the Social Affairs and Toilers Authority in the North and East Syria region, in coordination with all the bodies in the other Cantons, are all mobilized to secure the needs of the displaced, but the number is large and exceeds the capacity and needs the support of international organizations."

 Ahmed pointed out the need for the Democratic Autonomous Administration to support international forces and organizations to secure needs, calling on the United Nations in particular to open the Tal Kocher/Al-Yarubiyah crossing between Syria and Iraq to facilitate the task of the Autonomous Administration in securing basic needs for all those who were displaced from their homes.
