Content of  meeting of AANES, SDC delegation with officials in Britain

A delegation that included representatives of North and East Syria met with senior British officials, including the Democratic Unionist Party Member of Parliament Sammy Wilson, the Conservative Party representative Caroline Dinenage, in addition to Lord Jay, the British politician and former diplomat.

On behalf of the North and East Syria delegation, the co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Ilham Ahmed, and the co-chair of the Relations Office in the Syrian Democratic Council, Hassan Muhammad Ali, attended.

The discussion focused on the need to end the hostile actions carried out by the mercenaries affiliated with Turkey, especially the attacks on the Tishrin Dam area, which pose a major threat to a humanitarian disaster.

The delegation stressed the need to pressure to stop the escalation and attacks that threaten civil peace and drain the region’s resources.

One of the main topics discussed was the need for all Syrian political forces to participate in the planned national conference, which must represent all Syrian components.

The meetings also stressed ensuring effective representation of women in this dialogue, as their role is essential in building the future Syria.

On the other hand, the discussion revolved around the necessity of preserving the model of Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, as it is a fundamental pillar for the stability of the region and Syria in general. They stressed that this model must be part of the future Syria, which guarantees security and stability in light of societal diversity and ongoing threats.

In order to return the displaced and ensure the safety of the demographic structure in Syria, the delegation called for pressure to return the people of Afrin and all the displaced to their areas, secure the exit of mercenaries from the region, and form an international delegation to visit northern and eastern Syria to directly assess the humanitarian and security conditions.

The importance of preserving the position of the Syrian Democratic Forces within the national military structure of the future Syrian army was also addressed, which ensures achieving a security balance and contributes to the stability of the country. In the context of these discussions, some British parliamentarians proposed adopting federalism as a political model for the future Syria, as a solution that reflects pluralism and contributes to the fair distribution of power among the various components of the Syrian people.

MP Wilson expressed his readiness to participate in a delegation visiting North and East Syria, noting the importance of regularly following up on developments in the region to ensure that appropriate support is provided by the British Parliament. He stressed that the Syrian people are more aware of their reality and circumstances, expressing his commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive political solution in Syria.

The discussion also addressed the impact of international sanctions imposed on Syria, as the delegation indicated that the continuation of sanctions leads to an exacerbation of poverty and threatens to plunge the regions into chaos again.

At the end of the meetings, the need for the international community to support Syrian efforts to achieve a comprehensive political solution that guarantees the rights of all components and respects religious and ethnic diversity in Syria was emphasized.
