Deputy Secretary-General of the Conservative Party, Akram Mahshush, highlighted the siege imposed by the Damascus government authorities on Afrin and Al-Shahba cantons, and the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo.

Damascus government forces have been imposing an unjust siege on Afrin, Al-Shahba, Sheikh Maqsoud, and Ashrafieh cantons for more than 6 years, preventing the entry of basic materials, medicines, and fuel into the region.

Akram Mahshush stressed that the Damascus government, with its continuous siege, is implementing occupation plans for the benefit of countries hostile to the Syrian people, especially the Turkish occupation state, and said: “This is not permissible.”

Mahshush pointed out that the timing of the further tightening of the siege by the Damascus government coincided with the Democratic Autonomous Administration’s ratification of the social contract and the success of the fourth Syrian Democratic Council conference, and he said: “The imposition of the siege indicates its weakness and failure in the face of the success of the Autonomous Administration project with the new structure in the North and East region.” Syria".

Mahshush touched on the goal of the Damascus government in imposing the siege on al-Shahba and said: “The goal is to put pressure on the components of the Autonomous Administration and the existing administration, because of the democracy, rights, and services required in these areas, and to impose its control.”

Mahshush considered depriving Afrin and al-Shahba cantons and neighborhoods in Aleppo of all necessities of life and cutting off raw materials and fuel from them through this siege, especially in the winter, as a "crime against humanity."

Akram Mahshush called on the Damascus government to stop imposing this siege, and said: “This is an injustice against our besieged people.”

Mahshoush also called on the international community, the United Nations, and the concerned and human rights bodies to intervene to stop the siege imposed by the Damascus government, and said: “Our people besieged in al-Shahba are Syrians and displaced from their homes.”

Deputy Secretary-General of the Conservative Party, Akram Mahshush, called on the people of North and East Syria to stand united against any efforts to thwart the Democratic Autonomous Administration, and stressed the party’s support and backing to resist the besieged people.
