In the presence of dozens of women, activists, intellectuals, and members of women’s organizations, Kongra Star in the Euphrates Canton issued a public statement denouncing the death sentence issued by the Iranian authorities against political activist Sharifa Mohammadi.

The statement was read in the Free Woman’s Square in Kobani by Kongra Star member Khounaf Khalil.

It emphasized that Sharifa Mohammadi had waged a long struggle against the Iranian authorities’ policies of repression targeting women in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan, noting the widespread arrests, violence, and killings of women under various pretexts.

The statement also recalled the popular uprising led by women in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran, rejecting the systematic exclusionary policies against them, and affirmed the solidarity of the women of North and East Syria, particularly in Kobani, with the resistance of women in Iran.

The statement concluded: “Women will bring down authority with the philosophy of ‘Woman, Life, Freedom,’ and women will lead the world to become leaders of freedom.”

Following the statement, the noose was set on fire, and participants chanted the slogan: “Woman, Life, Freedom.”
