co-chair of Peoples' Democratic Party refers to date of leader Abdullah Ocalan's speech

The co-chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party, Tuncer Bakirhan, responded to journalists' questions during a press conference following the weekly parliamentary group meeting.

Regarding the expected date for leader Abdullah Ocalan to deliver his speech, Bakrhan explained that "the call does not happen easily in the country, as coordination must be made with our party, various institutions, and friends, in addition to other parties such as the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan." He pointed out that the delegation is doing important work and that they will evaluate the meetings after their return, expressing hope that the call will happen as soon as possible.

Regarding the question of whether the invitation will take place in the current month of February, Bakrhan confirmed that "there is no ambiguity in our position." He added, "If the Minister of Justice hurries, it is likely that Mr. Ocalan will complete his preparations and deliver his speech after the announcement of the meeting, as we wish to convey the views of the delegation resulting from the meeting before or after the invitation."

Regarding the claims that the call might be linked to laying down arms, Bakr Khan said, "I said the call would be made a century ago," emphasizing that the goal is to prepare a roadmap to achieve an equal life for the country's people, and that "arms are a very small part of this process." He explained that "the essence of this work is Turkey's democracy," pointing out that the roadmap will contribute to transferring the Kurdish issue from violence to the political and legal arena in order to achieve a democratic solution.
