Clashes erupted between Internal Security Forces and ISIS mercenaries in the Sayyida Zeinab area of the Damascus countryside on the night of Friday-Saturday.

According to reports, Internal Security personnel attempted to verify the identities of two individuals; however, the pair initiated an armed confrontation with the security force, leading to a clash between the two sides.

The clashes resulted in the deaths of the two ISIS mercenaries. There were also reports of injuries among Internal Security personnel, though no precise details regarding the nature or number of the injuries have been released so far.

In a statement, the Internal Security Forces clarified: "It was determined that the suspects were attempting to plant an explosive device in preparation for a terrorist attack targeting a government facility. Additional explosive devices and weapons were found in their possession, and investigations revealed their affiliation with the terrorist organization ISIS."
