Citizen burned his clothes to keep his sick child warm

Nearly 200,000 people live in the two neighborhoods, some of whom are displaced from the occupied Afrin canton, and displaced from neighboring Aleppo neighborhoods. As for Ahmed Jamil Khaled, who was displaced from the occupied city of Afrin and lives in the western part of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, he spoke about the hardships they are suffering from by saying: “We face cold and disease and there is no medicine. The government prevents the entry of medicines into the two neighborhoods, and if it permits, it takes huge sums of money in exchange for it.” This contributes to the rise in prices that we are unable to secure.”

He continued, saying: “We received one payment from our allocation of heating material and did not receive the second. Is it permissible to spend an entire winter with only 100 liters?”

Meanwhile, citizen Ahmed mentions that he has a sick child and “because the diesel ran out, I had to burn my clothes to keep warm. Isn’t it strange that we have reached this situation?”

Displaced Fatima Naasan Hamo also spoke about the difficulties of the situation, and said: “We get one gas cylinder every year.”

The people of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, and the displaced people of occupied Afrin, denounced the silence of the United Nations regarding the government siege.
