US forces affirmed the continuation of their military operations against ISIS militants in Syria as part of an “intensive campaign aimed at preventing the group’s resurgence and protecting US security and interests abroad.”

In a statement posted today on X platform, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that “US forces, in cooperation with partner forces, conducted nearly 80 military operations since July targeting terrorist members, including remnants of ISIS that posed a direct threat to the United States.”

CENTCOM noted that “over the past year, ISIS contributed to the planning of at least 11 plots or attacks targeting interests inside the United States,” adding that “US operations over the past six months resulted in the detention of 119 ISIS members and the killing of 14 others, disrupting the group’s attempts to reorganize and launch attacks on a global scale.”

Last September, US forces carried out a raid in Syria that “resulted in the killing of senior ISIS leader Omar Abdul Qader, who had been actively involved in planning attacks against the United States.”

Commander of US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, said that US forces are “steadfast in their relentless pursuit of terrorists who seek to harm Americans and US interests abroad,” stressing that operations in Syria are a critical element in preventing ISIS militants from regaining capabilities and posing a broad threat.

Cooper noted that US forces destroyed more than 15 ISIS weapons caches in southern Syria over the past month, in addition to destroying more than 130 mortar rounds and rockets, along with rifles, machine guns, anti-tank mines, and materials used in the manufacture of improvised explosive devices.

CENTCOM also announced that US forces carried out a raid in July in the city of al-Bab in the Aleppo countryside, which resulted in the killing of prominent ISIS leader Diaa Zuba’a Musleh al-Hardani and his two sons, who were considered a direct threat to US forces and coalition partners.

Cooper concluded by saying that “deploying our forces to eliminate these elements makes the United States and the region safer,” reaffirming continued efforts to pursue ISIS networks and prevent the group’s resurgence.
