Cautious calm witnessed in Deir ez-Zor countryside after attack on SDF checkpoint

A cautious calm prevails on Sunday in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, particularly around the town of Abo Hamam, following an attack carried out on Saturday night on one of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) checkpoints with an RPG projectile fired by anonymous armed elements from the western bank of the Euphrates River, without casualties being recorded.

Field military sources stated that the Syrian Democratic Forces have intensified their security and military presence throughout the eastern countryside, and deployed additional checkpoints in the area to ensure the safety of residents and prevent any further breaches.

The sources added that security forces are continuing their investigations to identify the perpetrators, while the Syrian Democratic Forces affirmed their continued state of readiness to protect civilians and maintain stability in the region.

The Syrian Democratic Forces' Media Center stated on its website on Saturday that its forces responded to the sources of fire with appropriate means, accurately targeting the attackers' positions.
