In Sweida, a cautious calm prevails today following a highly tense night that saw widespread attacks and infiltration attempts carried out by armed groups affiliated with the Syrian transitional government across several axes in the western countryside.

ANHA correspondent confirmed that the areas hit last night by heavy-weapons fire and drone attacks, especially the town of al-Majdal and its vicinity, have witnessed a decline in the intensity of targeting since midnight on Thursday–Friday, with activity limited to sporadic bursts of gunfire.

This calm follows an announcement by the National Guard Command that its forces repelled the large-scale attack that took place at 8 p.m. on Thursday and foiled infiltration attempts through several fronts, noting that the attacking forces suffered losses in equipment and personnel while defensive positions were reinforced across all sectors.

Despite the absence of heavy-weapons fire and drone flights since dawn today, the atmosphere in rural Sweida remains tense, amid heightened security readiness on both sides and local fears that attacks could resume at any moment, with no clear signs that tensions have fully ended.
