Call to reject violence and strife, build bridges of communication among Syrians

The Clans and Dignitaries Council and the Religious Council of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods issued a statement to the public opinion in terms of the events being witnessed in the coastal region and Homs.

The statement was read in front of the Clans and Dignitaries Council's center in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, with the participation of members of both councils, by Abdel Rahman Ghezzo, the member of the Religious Council and Imam of the Musab bin Umair Mosque.

The statement made clear, "Nearly a year has passed since the fall of the former regime, during which the Syrian people, with all their tribes and communities, have suffered from war and injustice. Our hope, as tribes, like all the Syrian people, was high that harmony and love would return among all components of Syrian people."

The statement referred to the renewed bloodshed in Homs, the closure of roads, and the prevention of essential supplies from reaching the Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyeh, and Bani Zeid neighborhoods.

The statement called for putting an end to violence and incitement, and for building bridges of communication to restore security and safety to Syria, in addition to opening all roads to allow supplies to reach those in need among the Syrian people.

The statement expressed the readiness of the clans within the neighborhood to communicate with all Syrian clans in order to sow affection and harmony among the people of Syria throughout the entire Syrian territory.
