Call to participate in upcoming events on February 15

The Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Popular Initiative in Jazera Canton issued a joint statement inviting people to participate in the events scheduled for February 15 in Qamishlo, Girkê Legê, Derik, and Hasaka. This date marks the 26th anniversary of the international conspiracy against Leader Abdullah Ocalan and is a call for his freedom.

The statement was delivered in front of the Mohammad Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in Qamishlo, in the presence of members of both initiatives, along with members and administrators of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Kongra Star, the Autonomous Administration of Jazer Canton, members of the Council of Elders of NE Syria, the Armenian Social Council, Arab and Kurdish tribal elders, and members of the Democratic Islam Congress.

The statement was read in Arabic by Suleiman Ahmad, a member of the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and in Kurdish by Noha Omar, also a member of the initiative.

The statement read:

"The 26th anniversary of the international conspiracy against Leader Abdullah Ocalan comes at a critical time for our region, marked by significant regional changes.

Leader Ocalan’s case is not merely the case of an individual who was subjected to one of the most heinous international conspiracies, one that can be described as the conspiracy of the modern era. Rather, it is the case of the entire Kurdish people, a struggle for freedom, dignity, identity, justice, and equality.

On this day, we reaffirm that the policies pursued by the Turkish state against Leader Abdullah Ocalan are nothing but a continuation of the genocidal approach against the Kurds. This necessitates that we all stand united against these oppressive policies and support the resistance in Imrali by all available means.

Accordingly, we call upon our people, all communities and groups, including tribal leaders, religious figures, intellectuals, writers, lawyers, engineers, workers, teachers, youth, women, men, and elders, as well as all councils, administrations, and institutions of the Autonomous Administration, to take to the streets and actively participate in the mass march. The march will start from the Martyrs’ Stadium (March 12 Stadium) at exactly 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 15. This will be an expression of our rejection of the international conspiracy against Leader Abdullah Ocalan, a renewal of our commitment to continuing the struggle to end the system of extermination and torture imposed on him, and a demand for his physical freedom. Furthermore, this march is a confirmation that Leader Abdullah Ocalan, with his philosophy, vision, and deep insight, holds the key to a political and peaceful solution, not only for the Kurdish issue but for all unresolved issues in the Middle East.

The conspirators must realize that February 15, a day they intended to be a black day and a day of Kurdish extermination, will, through our will and struggle, be transformed into a day of freedom and dignity."
