Ban lifted on Sulaymaniyah International Airport in S. Kurdistan

Turkish authorities have completely lifted the air embargo on Sulaymaniyah International Airport in Southern Kurdistan, ending restrictions imposed since April 2023.

Turkish authorities have fully lifted the air travel ban on Sulaymaniyah International Airport in Southern Kurdistan, ending the restrictions that had been imposed since April 2023.

Karwan Yarwis, a member of the Kurdistan National Union (YNK), announced that the ban Turkey had placed on Sulaymaniyah Airport has been completely lifted. He stated: "The sanctions imposed on Sulaymaniyah Airport have officially ended. From now on, all flights wishing to travel to Sulaymaniyah International Airport are free to do so."

The YNK representative added that the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority sent a message through the "Chips Worldwide" system, opening Turkish airspace to all flights between Turkey and Sulaymaniyah.

It is noteworthy that Turkey had banned flights arriving from its territory to Sulaymaniyah Airport in Southern Kurdistan in April 2023, extending the ban six times before lifting it completely today.
