Bakhshan Azizi's father denies charges against her: fabricated case

The father of the Kurdish activist, Bakhshan Azizi, who is detained in Evin Prison in Tehran, Aziz Azizi, said that his daughter, Bakhshan, was not a political activist, but was only working in the field of social work.

He explained in a video that he posted on a virtual social media platform that the documents presented by the Iranian court against her were incorrect, noting that the court claimed that his daughter worked for a period ranging between 6 to 8 years as a consultant in western Kurdistan (Rojava), which he strongly denied.

Aziz Azizi affirmed his complete rejection of all charges against his daughter, describing them as “baseless.” He explained that Bakhshan Azizi has no connection to any political activity that conflicts with the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that the case is fabricated.

Aziz Azizi called on the international community and political activists around the world to provide support and assistance in his daughter’s case, calling for pressure on the Iranian authorities to cancel the death sentence and provide her with a fair trial.

Earlier last week, the lawyer of the Kurdish activist, Bakhshan Azizi, announced that the death sentence against his client had been confirmed in the Supreme Court of Iran.

Bakhshan Azizi was arrested for the first time in 2009 during a student protest, and was released four months later on bail.

On August 4, 2023, she was arrested again in Tehran, and was subjected to physical and psychological torture during her detention. On July 24, the Revolutionary Court in Tehran issued a death sentence.
