Clashes continue between Damascus government forces and ISIS mercenaries in the Syrian desert, in light of the failure of Russian aviation to hinder ISIS attacks, according to the Syrian Observatory.

During the first half of this February, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the killing of about 38 people, including 8 ISIS mercenaries and 30 Damascus government forces, in addition to the injury of at least 31 others on both sides.

According to the SOHR, these clashes and attacks were mainly concentrated in the Homs desert.

Yesterday, the SOHR indicated that 19 members of the Damascus government forces were killed and others were injured, including high-ranking officers, in ISIS attacks on sites in the Homs and Hama deserts, within 72 hours.

At a time when the Syrian Democratic Forces, in cooperation with the International Coalition, were able to defeat ISIS and end its geographical control in the NE Syria, the Damascus government has not yet been able to end it in the Syrian desert, which has become its stronghold.
