Armed men killed in clash with Jordanian Army during attempted infiltration from Southern Syria

Several armed men were killed in a confrontation with the Jordanian Army’s border guards early today after attempting to illegally infiltrate Jordanian territory from areas controlled by the Syrian Interim Government.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that three Syrian militants were killed during an exchange of gunfire with Jordanian border guards in the eastern military zone. The incident occurred during their illegal attempt to cross into Jordanian territory.

Previously, a man from Deir ez-Zor was killed by Jordanian border guards after being wounded during an attempt to smuggle weapons from Jordan into Syria in the northern military zone along the Syrian-Jordanian border. The clash also resulted in the deaths of three Jordanian soldiers.

Weapons and drug trafficking are common in areas controlled by the Interim Government, especially in southern regions. These areas frequently witness smuggling attempts through various means, including drones, prompting neighboring countries to tighten security and military surveillance along the Syrian border.
