Arafat: main feature of alliance is that it transcends affiliations, ideologies

He affirmed that the main motivation behind this alliance is the shared conviction of the necessity to gather and mobilize national forces to address the major national tasks facing the country.

On March 22, 2025, a group of leftist, nationalist, and Islamic political parties and forces, along with civil and community organizations and gatherings, launched a new alliance in Syria under the name "Syrian Equal Citizenship Alliance."

The Secretary of the People's Will Party, Alaa Arafat, mentioned that one of the most distinguishing features of the "Syrian Equal Citizenship Alliance" is its transcending nature of affiliations and ideologies, as it includes leftist, nationalist, and Islamic currents. He pointed out that the main motivation behind the establishment of this alliance is the shared conviction among these forces of the necessity to gather and mobilize national forces in one direction to address the major national tasks facing the country and its people.
Details of the alliance
The Secretary of the People's Will Party and member of the leadership of the Change and Liberation Front, Alaa Arafat, spoke to ANHA's agency about the alliance and the orientations of its signatories, explaining that the "Syrian Equal Citizenship Alliance" includes more than 30 parties, organizations, and groups, among them the Change and Liberation Front, the Syrian Democratic Council, and the Progressive Democratic Party of Kurdistan in Syria, in addition to other entities.
The motives and objectives of the alliance
Arafat explained that the main motivation for forming the alliance is the need to unite national forces and move towards public and joint action, in the context of facing the various difficulties the country is going through. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the unity of the country and civil peace, in addition to achieving tasks such as controlling weapons and reviving the economy, leading to a unified, independent, and democratic Syria.
An open alliance for new parties and alliances
Arafat pointed out that the founding statement of the alliance stipulates that the door of the alliance is open for cooperation with all Syrian national forces, whether through joining it or through dialogue and communication.
Next steps
The press conference was launched as the first step in joint work, after about three months of preparations. Arafat explained that the upcoming period will witness the preparation of more detailed documents regarding the key points raised in the statement, in addition to communicating with the forces wishing to join. An appropriate organizational structure will also be prepared to reflect the idea of consensus. He mentioned that the goal is to hold the first general conference of the alliance at the right time after the preparations are completed.
