April 4th…Birth of free life for Kurdish people

Today, the Co-chairs of the People's Conference issued a statement to the public on the occasion of the birth of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, which falls on April 4th each year.

The statement read:

"We celebrate the 76th birthday of Leader Apo with great love and respect. April 4th is the day of the birth of the free Kurds, free women, and free humanity.

April 4th is the day of the birth of free life for the Kurdish people, who have been subjected to policies of cultural and physical genocide. Therefore, our national people, especially women, celebrate April 4th as their day of birth. On this basis, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our people, especially to women, on April 4th.

We congratulate all the patriots who participated in the march from Amed to Amara, organized by the youth under the slogan, 'Happy Birthday, Leader Apo.'

Nowruz 2025 has become the most respected Nowruz, celebrated under the slogan 'Free Leadership, Democratic Society,' with a public referendum calling for the freedom of Leader Apo, which entered the pages of history.

From now on, efforts will be made in all fields for the physical freedom of Leader Apo, because his physical freedom means a change in the policies of denial and destruction followed by the occupying Turkish state for a hundred years. The state's approach to Leader Apo is a sign of its approach to the democratic solution issue.

The call of Leader Apo, defined on February 27 as the 'Manifesto of the Century,' created a historic opportunity for the peoples of Turkey. The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Kurdish people have fully supported this call.

However, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) has not yet provided a sufficient answer to the strategic importance of this historic call. The freedom movement and our people are closely monitoring this phase with great sensitivity. Therefore, all the democratic forces that supported Leader Apo's call for 'peace and democratic society' must fully support this phase. To realize this historic opportunity, each of them must play their role based on 'building a democratic society.'

We salute all the events held in Kurdistan and abroad on the occasion of Leader Apo's birthday. We wish success in the work of our people and our friends in their enthusiastic efforts to bring about the leader’s freedom, based on the belief that 2025 will be the year of freedom."
