ANHA correspondent observed the preparations of dozens of journalists, intellectuals, and politicians, as well as representatives of various political parties, organizations, and civil society from Kurdistan, Turkey, and across the globe, including the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party, who are heading to the location of the event.

Today, Southern Kurdistan, specifically Sulaymaniyah Governorate, is witnessing practical actions by the People's Defense Forces (HPG) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which announced its dissolution and the end of the armed struggle on May 12 of this year, as a result of its 12th congress.

According to ANHA correspondents, today’s planned actions, set to take place at exactly 12 noon, will include a statement delivered by military forces along with other military procedures, confirming their commitment to Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s call.

These steps are part of the response to Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s “Peace and Democratic Society” appeal launched on February 27 of this year, and his latest recorded message dated June 9.

This phase began with Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s declaration on February 27, in which he stated: “The second century of the Republic cannot enjoy unity and sustainable continuity unless it is crowned with democracy. Without democracy, there is no way to seek or implement systems, it’s impossible. Democratic consensus is the fundamental method. In this process, I call for disarmament and take historical responsibility for this appeal.”

In his most recent message, Leader Abdullah Ocalan said in a video statement: “My belief lies in politics and the peace of society, not in weapons. I call on you to implement this principle.”
