Amidst harsh criticism and widespread boycott "Syrian National Dialogue Conference" kicks off

The Damascus Authority's "National Dialogue" conference activities have just started, to discuss the future of the country in just 6 hours, according to the conference's preparatory committee.

The conference is being held amid harsh criticism from Syrians opposed to the former Syrian regime, as well as a wide boycott by segments of Syrian society, and active and influential Syrian forces in Syrian affairs.

35 Syrian political, social and women's powers and entities considered that any conference that does not include representatives of all components and is held with a formal representation of individuals has no meaning and no value to its outcomes, and is useless and will not contribute to finding real solutions.

Syrians, especially political parties and powers and observers of Syrian affairs, see that this conference, despite its importance as a step towards discussing the country's issues, lacks inclusiveness and effective representation. This reflects major challenges facing the political process in Syria.

Different opinions stress the urgent need to expand the circle of political participation to include all groups, to ensure real representation for all and build a unified Syria in which justice and peace prevail.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration, which administers about 30% of Syrian territory, also stressed that the committee formed to prepare for the "National Dialogue Conference" by the Damascus authorities does not represent all spectrums of the Syrian people, nor does it meet the aspirations of its diverse components. It pointed out that no dialogue can be held in light of the exclusion and marginalization practiced by it, considering this the beginning of a policy of marginalization that the Syrians will never accept. It called for a re-reading of the Syrian scene as it is.
