Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf affirmed that his country is ready to engage in any effort to confront the growing security challenges in the African Sahel region, emphasizing that Algeria considers the stability of its neighborhood a direct extension of its national security.

In a speech at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Attaf emphasized Algeria's commitment to the principles of good neighborliness and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of neighboring countries. He affirmed that his country will not turn its back on its African affiliation, especially in light of the complex crises and challenges facing the region.

Attaf also expressed his country's concern about the worsening phenomenon of "terrorism," warning of "the Sahel region becoming a haven for armed organizations," calling for "activating the continental free trade zone and accelerating economic integration projects to confront the multiple challenges."
