Aleppo Security Forces remove checkpoints from Sheikh Maqsood, Al-Ashrafieh

The Internal Security Forces in Aleppo announced the removal of their checkpoints from the entrances of Sheikh Maqsood and Al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods, as part of steps aimed at building trust and ensuring the success of the April agreement with the Transitional Government and the Neighborhood Councils.

In this context, Colonel Mahmoud Ali Mirdly, spokesperson for the Aleppo Internal Security Forces, said, according to the official page of the forces, "The removal of checkpoints comes as a demonstration of our good intentions and support for efforts to make the agreement successful. The blockade on the two neighborhoods remains in place, but we are determined to implement the agreed arrangements."

Mirdly added, "There are externally supported groups working to sabotage these agreements and push the situation toward conflict, noting that our forces are committed to a political solution and see no other way to spare the region from tension."

The spokesperson concluded by emphasizing that Sheikh Maqsood and Al-Ashrafieh are part of Aleppo, and protecting their residents is their duty, stressing that dialogue is the only way to establish and sustain peace throughout Syria.
