Al-Hol residents block oil tanker route for second day 

For the second consecutive day, residents of the countryside east of Hasakah city have maintained their blockade of the main road used by oil transport tankers, in protest against the declining living and service conditions in the area, while calling for improvements in water supply, fuel availability, and basic services.

Local sources reported that dozens of residents from towns and villages in the al-Hol countryside gathered along the route used by oil tankers and prevented them from passing, expressing their frustration over the continuing water shortages, rising fuel prices, and the decline in healthcare and living services.

The protesters raised slogans demanding an immediate response from the relevant authorities, stressing that the area has long suffered from severe shortages of drinking water and fuel, in addition to weak healthcare services, despite the daily passage of oil tankers through the region.

Several residents indicated that the protests would continue unless practical measures are taken to address the service-related problems and secure the population’s basic needs, particularly water and fuel.

They also emphasized the need to improve living conditions and provide essential services to the villages and towns affiliated with al-Hol subdistrict.
