Interim government announces ceasefire on all fronts

The Ministry of Defense of the Syrian Interim Government announced a ceasefire on all fronts, based on the “signed agreement” between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Interim Government.

In a statement issued today, the Ministry of Defense said that, pursuant to the agreement signed by Interim Government head Ahmad al-Shara and SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi, the ministry “announces a ceasefire on all fronts and a comprehensive halt to all military operations across all areas of confrontation, in preparation for opening safe corridors that will allow civilians to return to their areas and enable state institutions to resume their duties in serving citizens.”

According to the statement, the decision comes “within the framework of stabilizing security, protecting civilians, and creating appropriate conditions for the return of normal life to areas affected by the recent events.”

Al-Shara had earlier announced a ceasefire across all fronts with North and East Syria in order to complete the process of integrating the Syrian Democratic Forces into the institutions of the Syrian state.
