The statement was delivered during a tribal meeting in the city of Euphrates in the eastern countryside of Deir-ez-zor, and was delivered by the notable of the al-Bu Hamdan clan, Mahmoud al-Turki al-Noman.

The statement began:

We, the sheikhs, notables and sons of the town of "Abu Hamam" in the eastern countryside of Deir-ez-Zor, strongly condemn the attacks of the Syrian regime forces and its mercenaries, and their targeting of our areas, which resulted in the martyrdom of a number of civilians, including women, children and the elderly, and the wounding of others, in addition to causing significant damage to their property and service institutions such as water and electricity stations, and the theft of their contents.

The statement of the sheikhs and notables confirmed their rejection of interference in the affairs of the region, and continued that the intervention of the Damascus government expresses its submission to foreign agendas that conflict with the interests of the Syrian people.

He pointed out that it would have been more appropriate for the Damascus government to unite the homeland and call for launching a dialogue with the Democratic Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces, not to fight them, as long as they are the ones who liberated most of the Syrian lands from ISIS mercenaries.

The statement also said: “If the Syrian regime is keen on the sovereignty and unity of Syrian lands, it would have been better for it to work on liberating the lands occupied by the Turkish occupation state, such as Afrin, Azaz, al-Bab, Jarablus, Ras al-Ain, and Tal Abyad, as well as Idlib, rather than directing the muzzles of its cannons towards its people who defended the unity of Syrian lands more than it did.”

He added: "If this indicates anything, it indicates the regime's lack of patriotism and its being drawn into agendas that conflict with Syrian patriotism, and to distribute its hollow accusations right and left, by accusing the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces of "subordination" and "separatism", while it is the first to contribute to dividing the homeland and the Syrian people through its reckless policies, which only indicate hostility to the Syrian people. we warn it to stop practicing these policies that will not lead it to any result in the face of our people's resistance and its insistence on defending its regions with all its might, and against all attacks, from whatever side they may be."

The notables and sheikhs of the al-Bu Hamdan clan thanked the Syrian Democratic Forces for defending the region and affirmed their solidarity with them. The statement said: “As we have known them, they were the first to make sacrifices in order to preserve the security and stability of our regions. In turn, we renew our pledge before God and our people to continue our journey with them and stand with them in defending and protecting the people and property. We are fully certain that the unity of our components in North and East Syria is sufficient to repel any aggression or attacks on our regions.

The statement also praised the position of the tribes and clans of North and East Syria and their people, in preserving national unity and not being dragged behind seditions, and stated: "We salute the position of our people, with all its tribes and clans, as no individual has hesitated to protect their areas. We also commend their historical role in preserving societal unity and not being dragged behind seditions that the Syrian regime and its henchmen are trying to create, who claim that they represent the clans, while they are merely a group that has agreed to work for the enemies of the Syrian people, those whom our people do not hold in any regard and have lost their connection to the tribe and clan, and have turned into their enemies."

The statement called on the Damascus government to stop playing on the tribal chord and to think rationally, and not to adopt the method of inciting the tribes and stirring up personal feelings to create a rift between the sons of the same homeland, and added: "If it thinks that he will infiltrate it and achieve some benefits, then it is delusional, as our national unity is stronger than his mercenaries, cannons and tanks. And while the blood he caused to be shed has not dried, we, in the name of our tribes and clans in the town of "Abu Hamam", extend a hand of peace to him, from a position of strength, in an effort to stop the bloodshed and ward off sedition, as any war and fighting ends in peace and forgiveness for what has passed, and this is consistent with our tribal and clan customs and traditions that we have always inherited from our ancestors."

The statement of the tribal leaders and sheikhs concluded with a call on the international community and human rights and humanitarian organizations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and initiate an investigation into the crimes committed by the Damascus government forces, and bring the perpetrators to fair international courts.
