Air strikes on As-Suwayda countryside leave deaths, injuries

Two houses in the As-Suwayda countryside were subjected to air strikes that were likely Jordanian, killing and wounding a number of people.

Air strikes after midnight targeted homes and a warehouse in two areas southeast of As-Suwayda, leaving deaths, injuries, and significant material damage.

According to the As-Suwayda 24 website, “Jordanian warplanes targeted several homes at least in the town of Arman in the southeastern countryside of As-Suwayda, killing 10 people.”

For its part, As-Suwayda Fire Brigade announced the killing of 8 people as a preliminary toll, and the injury of 3 others, who were transferred to nearby hospitals.

On the 9th of this month, Jordanian warplanes targeted a house in the As-Suwayda countryside, killing 3 people.

Recently, air strikes have been repeated on villages near the Syrian-Jordanian border, some of them targeting centers, warehouses, and homes.

Unofficial Jordanian sources say the strikes fall within “security campaigns” to pursue drug traffickers and limit drug smuggling operations that take place through Syrian territory into Jordan from As-Suwayda countryside.
