After 100 days in the open: Four bodies identified in Sweida

Forensic medicine in Sweida has identified several bodies that were recovered after lying in the open for more than 100 days in the village of Tha'la in the Sweida countryside. This followed an attack by the Syrian Interim Government forces and affiliated armed groups on the area last July.

According to the forensic department, four of the newly recovered bodies from the village of Tha'la have been identified as:

- Hindia Dheeb

- Hasiba Al-Ali

- Sukariya Al-Hamoud

- Khaled Shaheen

The forensic department confirmed that the fifth body remains unidentified at the time of this report, pending further examination due to its advanced state of decomposition.

Dozens of residents of Sweida and its surrounding countryside are still missing, and dozens of bodies remain exposed in the northern and western villages. Retrieving these bodies is difficult due to the presence of the Syrian National Army and its affiliated armed groups in these areas, or because of the proximity of villages to the bodies. This situation is exacerbated by frequent targeting and sniper fire, and the overall instability of the security situation.
