Afrin, Shahba Displaced Council warns against Strife, calls for civil peace in Rojava

The Council of Displaced People from Afrin and Shahba issued a statement today regarding recent developments in Rojava, expressing concern over events and tensions that have negatively impacted stability and civil peace.

The council affirmed that “any individual practices or actions outside the official framework do not represent us or reflect the will of our people,” stressing that such acts “harm the path toward stability and serve attempts to spread strife and division among Syrian society.”

The statement highlighted the suffering of Afrin’s displaced population due to forced displacement, reaffirming their “legitimate right to a safe and dignified return to their homeland,” and rejecting “anything that obstructs this path or undermines the justice of their cause.”

The council called for “rejecting all forms of violence and irresponsible behavior,” emphasizing that “any action outside the official framework is unacceptable and condemned.” It also stressed adherence to peaceful political solutions and dialogue, and the implementation of the January 29, 2026 agreement as a path to resolving the crisis.

The statement further emphasized “preserving Syria’s territorial unity and rejecting division projects,” and expressed belief in a democratic, pluralistic Syria that embraces all its components, with justice and accountability applied without exception.

It also called for strengthening coexistence, noting that “the Kurdish people are an essential part of Syria’s national fabric,” while warning against hate speech and anything that fuels division.

In conclusion, the council stressed that “our people’s struggle will remain legitimate and peaceful,” aiming to achieve “a safe and dignified return within a united, free, and democratic Syria,” and called for holding those responsible for inciting strife accountable, regardless of their affiliation.
