Activist: International inaction fuels crimes against Syrians

Political activist Faisal Khalifa, a native of Sweida, said that international silence has become a partner in the crimes committed against Syrians, amid ongoing attacks carried out by mercenaries of the interim government against Syrian components. The latest attacks targeted the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafiyeh, and Bani Zaid in Aleppo, alongside continued abductions, killings, mutilation of bodies, the siege of As-Suwayda, and threats against other areas.

In a statement to ANHA agency, Khalifa noted that this international silence encourages the drawing of a new political and demographic map in Syria based on sectarian and ethnic lines.

He warned that the continuation of violations threatens the unity of the country and exposes all its components, including the Sunni component, to long-term dangers.

He called for the protection of civilians from the violations of the interim government in Syria through pressure or direct intervention, and for holding the government accountable for violating international agreements that granted it the opportunity to rebuild Syria, ensure the participation of all Syrians in governing the country, and exclude foreign elements.

Khalifa affirmed that international powers bear responsibility for the violations committed daily against Syrians across various regions of the country.
