Abdul Khaliq Silê passes away after decades of struggle, service 

Abdul Khaliq died today in Darbasiyah, Jazira Canton, at the age of 63, after a struggle with cancer, concluding a life full of dedication to the Kurdish people's cause. His funeral was attended by his family and local residents, who accompanied him to his final resting place in the city cemetery.

Born in 1962 in Darbasiyah, Abdul Khaliq was the father of three sons and three daughters. He became acquainted with the Kurdistan Liberation Movement in 1984 and began his organizational activities in 1985. From that point on, he devoted his life to national struggle and active participation in the movement’s organizational activities and spreading awareness about them.

He met with Leader Abdullah Ocalan twice, in 1990 and 1991, in Lebanon. Over the course of his activism, he was subjected to arrests and harassment by the Ba'ath regime. He was among the prisoners in Hasaka prison during the fire that broke out on March 24, 1993, which resulted in him sustaining burn injuries.

He also joined the Democratic Union Party (PYD) from its founding and was one of the pioneering figures in organizational work in Darbasiyah. Additionally, He served as a member of the city’s Consultative Council, which includes local dignitaries and notables, where he played an important role in strengthening social bonds and serving community causes.
