Abduction of two Kurdish teenage girls in rural al-Shahba

A masked armed group abducted two Kurdish teenage girls on Monday in the village of al-Nairabiya, located in the al-Shahba countryside, amid the ongoing state of lawlessness and insecurity in the Turkish-occupied areas of northern Syria.

According to the Afrin–Syria Human Rights Organization, the kidnapping occurred at around 11:00 a.m., when a vehicle carrying several armed men entered the village and forcibly took the girls from outside their home before fleeing the scene. Residents were unable to identify the group responsible.

The two abducted minors were identified as Helin Hussein Alloush (15) and Rayan Aidan Kadro (13). Their whereabouts remain unknown, while families and local human rights organizations are calling for urgent intervention to determine their fate and ensure their safe return.

The incident comes amid a surge in criminal and sectarian-motivated offenses, including increasing cases of abductions targeting women and young girls, across areas under Turkish control, where the absence of law, accountability, and an effective judiciary has deepened the ongoing state of chaos and insecurity.
