8 people killed, injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern, eastern Lebanon

Israeli warplanes carried out more than 15 air raids late last night, striking multiple locations in the south, according to the Lebanese National News Agency.

The agency reported that the raids hit several areas, including the Qalaat Meis site between Ansar and Zrarieh, followed by a series of intense strikes on a cement factory and a quarry between Ansar and Sinai, causing massive explosions and strong tremors that sparked widespread panic among residents.

According to the updated toll, one person was killed in Shmistar in the Baalbek district (eastern Lebanon), while another was injured in Bnafol in the Sidon district. Six others were wounded in Ansar in the Nabatieh district in the south.

The airstrikes also targeted the towns of Sarafand and Al-Baysriyeh, as well as the road connecting Al-Sharqiya and Kouthariyat Al-Sayyad, in addition to areas between Roumine, Houmine, and Ali Al-Taher in the Nabatieh district.

In a related development, the Israeli army reportedly deployed stun and incendiary devices near the southern border while locals were harvesting olives, further heightening tensions in the region.
