Internal Security thwarts escape attempt from al-Hol camp

The Media Center of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria issued a statement today regarding its forces' thwarting of a mass escape attempt in al-Hol camp, south of Hasaka city in Jazera canton. The statement read:

"Our security forces in al-Hol camp thwarted, on Tuesday, September 2, a mass escape attempt by a number of families of the terrorist organization ISIS, totaling 56 individuals, who were attempting to flee using a large vehicle.

Thanks to the constant vigilance and efforts of our camp security forces, who monitor the camp around the clock, suspicious activity was detected yesterday afternoon, when a group of people were seen as they were climbing into the vehicle in an abnormal manner.

Our forces immediately began a follow-up operation, stopped the vehicle as it attempted to pass through the main gate, and arrested all those inside.

The detainees were transferred to our specialized security departments to begin extensive investigations and uncover the circumstances of this failed operation, as our forces continue their efforts to maintain security and stability and prevent any breach that threatens the safety of the camp and the region.”
