Local sources reported on Wednesday that an explosion occurred near Damascus International Airport, caused by the detonation of war remnants.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation, affiliated with the Syrian transitional government, explained in a statement that the sounds heard in the area were caused by the detonation of old remnants, which occurred more than 20 kilometers from the airport.

The authority confirmed that "the situation at Damascus International Airport is stable, and air traffic is continuing normally and regularly without any impact."

It is noteworthy that the Damascus area, its countryside, and the rest of Syria experience occasional explosions resulting from repeated Israeli attacks on military sites belonging to the former regime, in addition to daily incursions into the southern region.
