Iranian media reported today that the strike hit a school in the city of Minab, in Hormozgan Province, amid escalating military tensions between Israel and the United States on one side and Iran on the other.

Videos circulating online showed extensive destruction to the school building. Around 170 students were reportedly inside the school at the time of the attack.

Initial reports indicated that 24 students had been killed, but the toll was later confirmed to have risen to 51.

The deputy governor of Hormozgan confirmed the attack to the Tasnim News Agency, while Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei referred to the incident as a “bloody tragedy.”

Hormozgan Province is considered a strategically important region, as it hosts several Iranian naval bases.
