4 children died in Kobani due to dehydration, malnutrition, extreme cold 

According to information received from Al-Amal Modern Hospital in Kobani, four children died due to dehydration caused by severe lack of nutrition, compounded by the effects of extreme cold, in the context of deteriorating humanitarian conditions and the difficulty of securing basic necessities.

Hospital administration confirmed that the cases arrived suffering from serious complications related to malnutrition and dehydration, leading to their deaths despite medical staff’s efforts to save them. It also reported that a number of newborns lost their lives during childbirth at the hospital due to power outages and their need for oxygen. The administration warned that the continued shortage of food and heating threatens the lives of more children.

The hospital added that the city is experiencing a complete lack of infant formula, a severe shortage of medicines in general, and that residents have been forced to use contaminated water for drinking and rely on what remains in water tanks.

It called on relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to provide food supplies, medical materials, and heating resources to curb the worsening crisis and protect children from the dangers of the harsh winter.

This comes amid the ongoing suffocating siege imposed on the city by mercenaries of the Syrian Interim Government and the Turkish occupation, and the targeting of surrounding villages and rural areas.
